In1981, BNI was looking for a singer, as Elyse Helford, the current lead vocalist was going back to finish her doctorate.

A young musician, Jim Ellison answered our Illinois Entertainer want-ad. Barely out of High School, Jim showed up to join the band. Ironically he didn't pass the audition, although he would continue to show up at our rehearsal spot. He would jam with us almost every night for months.

Learning new guitar chords from Brian and vocal tips from Bob. BNI helped him construct and arrange his catchy guitar and vocal hooks into songs. And these are the live songs we came up with.
Jim asked us to be his band one night at a small dive bar called California Lounge, on Belmont and California in Chicago. BNI Bob recorded it on a boom box. Bob stashed the cassette and forgot all about it, until recently. BNI kept in touch with Jim, but less as the years went by.

Jim went on to form Material Issue.

Copied from the cassette and remixed by Craig Williams at Dr. CAW Studios in Northbrook Illinois in 2021.

Sound quality is what you'd expect from a 40-year-old cassette tape.
Craig did a great job cleaning it up. We think Jim fans and BNI fans would appreciate this blast from the past. This a free stream and download.
